Welcome to St. Paul !
God is at work here. Take a virtual tour of his construction site. You’ll see the building materials God is using: Word and sacrament, discipleship groups, and opportunities to serve, to name only a few.
Martin Luther said humanity is the creature on whom God is doing construction. And we at St. Paul believe God has been at work on us. We are a changed congregation. We have been chastened a little and cheered a lot. And through it all, we have experienced God’s intense longing for every last one of us to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. We have come to understand that discipleship does not just happen. God builds disciples through a process. The process is simple. We call it: Surrender, Share, Serve.
Surrendering the ultimate responsibility for our lives to Jesus Christ is the first step of discipleship. We do not do this only once. Every week in worship and every day in prayer, we remember that our lives belong to the Lord. We rest in him.
Sharing the journey with other believers is the second step of discipleship. We are not alone in this venture. When we become God’s child, he takes us around and introduces us to our sisters and brothers. We can share our struggles and doubts, our insights and joys. Believers learn from believers. This is how God deepens our faith and clarifies his will for our lives.
Serving the world that God is so in love with – is the third step of discipleship. We visit people in jail or at nursing homes. We make quilts and layettes. We go on a Servant Mission. As we serve the world, we learn to trust God, not our own abilities. God matures us as we face difficulties together.
We give ourselves to God. We give ourselves to one another. We give ourselves to the world. This is what we mean when we say Surrender, Share, Serve. We are becoming the Christians we have always wanted to be.
Come join us.
